You know how sometimes the teacher assigns homework without teaching the subject? They expect you to figure out the problems yourself? That's one problem a ton of middle schoolers have that keeps them up at night and not doing well in school. But the real reason students are failing is because they are too ashamed to admit that they need help.
This shame keeps students from doing well, so they best thing to do is to face the fear and overcome it. Nothing is worth you not being able to do your best. You should admit that you don't understand the concept and go to your teacher or a friend that understands the concept or has taken the class before. This way, everyone benefits. You get passing grades, your parents don't get on your case for failing, etc. So ask for help. The worst thing that can happen is that you don't understand it, which is where you were at in the beginning.
